PROSPECTUS
Little Big House Gallery (LBH) invites artists to submit paintings of the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls, MA, for a juried competition. The Bridge, with its natural beauty, is a muse for many and has provided inspiration to gardeners and artists. This show will recognize and highlight the way painters are inspired by the Bridge.
Exhibition Dates: September 16 - October 28, 2011.
Jurors:
Peter London is Chancellor Professor Emeritus of the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, MA. His background includes a Doctorate in Art Education from Columbia University, a Master of Fine Arts in Painting (also from Columbia) and numerous distinguished associations with colleges, universities and institutes. He is the author of No More Secondhand Art, 1987; Community Based Art Education, 1993; and Drawing Closer to Nature, 2001. Peter resides in Davis, California and on Patten Hill in Shelburne, Massachusetts. His work is in many private and public collections across North America.
Deborah Baronas graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Textile Design, and worked in the textile industry as a designer and creative director in the United States and Europe for 22 years. Currently she works as an artist and designer from her studio in Warren, RI. She is the recipient of industry awards, grants and public commissions. Her work hangs in the Washington DC office of the Rhode Island legislative delegation. Most recently, she received funding from the Warren Preservation Society to create The Warren Mill Project, an aesthetic blending of art and history.
Glenn A. Ridler has been painting, sculpting and inventing in Shelburne, MA for the past 30 years. Born in Paterson, New Jersey he graduated from Montclair State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1967 he received a Master of Fine Arts degree, in painting from Oakland's California College of Arts & Crafts. Glenn taught at the California Polytechnic Institute before moving to Massachusetts. He continued to teach and create his own artwork. His development as an artist occurred during the peak of Modernism. His largest work is his home, Little Big House, a residential sculpture that is now the location of The Little Big House Gallery.
Awards:
There will be first prize and second prize with cash awards. In addition, there will be honorable mentions at the discretion of the jurors.
First and second prize winners will be featured on littlebighousegallery.com and may remain on the website as past exhibitors. Honorable Mentions will be featured for the duration of the show.
Accepted painters will participate in an opening reception at LBH Gallery.
Entry Fee
Entry fee is $20. for three images.
Eligibility
Open to all amateur and professional artists. Two-dimensional paintings must be inspired by and representative of, some aspect of the Bridge of Flowers.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Size must be no larger than 42” X 42”, including frame.
Only digital images in jpeg, not to exceed 1MB, will be accepted. Each image shall include title, dimensions and medium.
In addition, CD’s must be labeled with:
Name
Address
Telephone number
Email address.
Biographical information of 100 words or less, may be included.
Entries with SASE will be returned. Images will be held for one year.

Acceptance Notification
Accepted entries will be notified by August 18, 2011
Delivery Times
Paintings can be delivered August 28 - September 4, 2011, between 2 - 6 p.m.
Sales
Artists retain 60% of sale price.
In appreciation of the inspiration the Bridge provides, 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Bridge of Flowers Committee.
Promotion LBH will promote the event and prize winners in direct mailings, press releases and other media.
Use Rights
Participation implies permission to use image on the website and in promotional materials. The gallery will not be held liable for any damages.
